The two begin planting explosives around weak points of the dam, hoping to set it off and destroy everything in the ensuing flood after they make their escape. Under the cover of night, Espio and Valdez are dispatched to the Outskirts of what is once Mobotropolis, where a communication relay station is located below an artificial dam constructed by the Empire to generate power. The Chaotix suggest starting at the source to begin an investigation, to travel back to Mobotropolis to fetch Intel on the Emerald's possible whereabouts, of which Sally agrees. However, the Freedom Fighters lack a place to begin looking, besides Knuckle's vision of which provides little value as of this time. She approves of a plan to track the mystical stones down and have them removed from Imperial possession. Knuckles insists that the resistance track down the Emerald and have them removed from the Empire's possession as soon as possible, of which gains the interest of Sally Acorn.
The Echidna alerts the Freedom Fighters of the Emerald being in the possible hands of the Eggman Empire, and that they may be using them for malevolent purposes, to possibly build a weapon, or use them to power said weapon. Robotnik : "Annihilate the Freedom Fighters- No survivors!"īack at Freedom HQ, Knuckles collapses in momentary pain, sensing the power of the Emeralds are being abused for an unknown purpose, but the Echidna recovers. Your purpose is to overpower, and outmatch our greatest adversary."ĭr. Finitevus : "You are a weapon, the ultimate weapon like no other, and ever will be- a living weapon. The three walk towards what appears to be a stasis capsule, of which it then opens, revealing a Black hedge-hog like figure with red stripes who awakens and steps forth from the capsule.ĭr. The entire room rumbles to life, and lights are illuminated.
The Emerald is placed into a slot of what appears to be a reactor chamber, along with the rest of the 6 colored emeralds. Finitevus, with the Blue Emerald in a protective case. Meanwhile, the doors of an elevator opens, stepping out are Robotnik, Snively and Dr. The Freedom Fighters and Knuckles are not sure of what to make of this information, and they group go about to their usual day. Knuckles manages to recount a vision of the possible last location of the emerald images of what appears to be a construction site, starry skies and a gigantic spire stretching high into the sky, followed by two bright, red-colored eyes. Knuckles suspects that someone has gained possession of the final one, as it would be impossible for the Emerald to 'moving about by itself' around Mobius before disappearing. The Freedom Fighters ask Knuckles to recount what he sensed, but then the Echidna uncomfortably makes note that he can no longer sense the Emerald as it is 'no longer on the surface' of Mobius, much to the confusion of the Freedom Fighters and the Echidna himself. 'Sometimes, what goes up is never meant to come back down.'Īt Freedom HQ, a sleeping Knuckles the Echidna suddenly awakes due to a vision he has managed to sense the location of one of the Chaos Emeralds, of which he hastily informs the Chaotix and Freedom Fighters. "Shock and Awe" is a military doctrine based on the use of overwhelming power and spectacular displays of force to paralyze the enemy's perception of the battlefield and destroy its will to fight.
